Please look at the Lab Policies prior to scheduling instrument time.

To schedule time for instrument usage please contact Clayton Loehn (cloehn1@gmail.com) as the detailed lab schedule is kept in-house, however our tentative schedule is currently on line and will be updated regularly. Please be sure to include a brief description of your project, what type of imaging or analysis you would like to perform, and what is your level of SEM experience (SE, BSE, CL, EDS, EBSD). Image and analysis training for our instrument can be arranged, however please be aware that training time may vary depending on the type of imaging or analytical work you would like to perform.

 

The instrument is available for academic research projects, integrated "hands-on" learning for educational courses, and other types of projects that may require or benefit from SEM analysis. The facility is equipped with 2 large 46" displays for small group training, limited to 10 people at a time. Lab personnel are available for imaging assistance and to monitor instrument performance.

Image files can be accessed or downloaded from our Image Archive to your home or work computers. Please contact the lab manager for a username and password for your Image folders.

Imaging Cost Structure

Arizona LaserChron Center:

-- Low resolution BSE imaging - $20/sample (DZ)
-- High resolution BSE imaging - $80/sample (DZ)
-- Low resolution CL imaging - $60/sample (IG); $180/sample (DZ)
-- Low resolution CL imaging for Hf analysis - $60/sample (DZ)
-- Publication CL imaging - $10/grain (IG or DZ) - Please have these samples sent to our lab with at least a 1 month lead time, for scheduling purposes

-- $50/hr for unassisted usage 

-- $60/hour for assisted usage or samples sent to the lab for analysis
-- Publication quality imaging requires samples to arrive at our lab with at least a 1 month lead time, for scheduling purposes

-- Industrial work will be considered on a case by case basis. A user rate ($90/hour) plus a consulting fee for analysis interpretation or report generation, if required, will be determined.
